Porter Music Box
By Mark Kinsler

I'm sure this will impress nobody, but I saw a big Porter music box
today in, of all places, the big new Cabela's store near Wheeling,
West Virginia. The box has maybe thirty notes and comes with a
selection of spectacular-looking copper-plated disks. It was tough to
judge the quality of the sound due to the noise in the store, but it
sounded almost electronic. There's a big crank on the side of the
machine, but I also saw a large toggle switch near the turntable, so
I assume that this one has the optional electric motor.

Cabela's is a chain of about ten hunting and fishing stores that are
all located in semi-wilderness areas throughout the US. They also
carry a comprehensive collection of cuckoo clocks and furniture made
out of antlers. Go figure. http://www.cabelas.com/
