Bob Moore mentions finding some wrong notes in the Play-Rite recut of
Wurlitzer roll 6688-6690.  From the fact that the misplaced notes recur
whenever the verse-chorus repeats of the tune come up, it seems clear
that the error did not happen in Play-Rite's recutting process, but were
imbedded in the original Wurlitzer master of roll 6690.  That roll,
made in 1945, was the last style 165 roll Wurlitzer issued.

How easy for the arranger, sitting at the arranging table, marking the
positions of the notes on the master cardboard, to slip up and mark a
note in the wrong column.  When the puncher, wielding his set of punches
and a mallet, struck holes where the arranger had marked, the deed was
done.  And when the defective verse-chorus master was used to produce
the complete tune, by running the master through the perforator multi-
times, the error in the master got repeated over and over in the
finished roll.

If the error had been Play-Rite's, there wouldn't be that pattern of
repeats in the error.
