Hello,  I was fortunate enough to pick up an Erlebach & Gershwin
Universal Song Roll at the local Op-Shop (a second-hand charity shop).

Ain't You Comin' Back to Dixieland? (Whiting)
p.b. Erlebach & Gershwin [July 1917]

The roll has additional hole patterns -- groups of two small holes --
near each edge.  Please refer to attached images.

Can someone tell me the purpose of these extra holes?
