Promoting Mechanical Music
By Sharon Marie

This past Sunday I attended the annual West Coast Ragtime Festival in
Sacramento, Calif. It was a fun-filled day of live music, dancing in
vintage costumes, and camaraderie shared by enthusiasts of turn-of-the-
century entertainment. Yet I was surprised to find that there was no
representation of mechanical music!

The only hint of its existence was in a few rolls that were for sale at
a vendor's table. I was also surprised that neither the MBSI nor AMICA
had a display, unless I missed seeing it.

Can someone from the Northern California Chapter please shed some light
on this?
