Organizing Piano Rolls On Shelves
By Tom Hutchinson

I have embarked on a long term project of roll organization.
I'm using the Jon Miller Piano Roll Data Base Program. It's pretty
clear-cut and easy to use and has a lot of bells and whistles which
I will never use.

My question concerns the problem of organization on storage shelves.
The program allows you to sort by title, composer roll number, type
of music and many other parameters. I have, for example, over 1200
Ampico rolls that occupy a lot of shelf space. Finding a single roll
that you suspect you might have is next to impossible.

Has anyone in this group had any experience or suggestions on the
best category by which to store these rolls on the shelves for easy
retrieval?

Thanks, Tom Hutchinson
