Hello MMD.  The rebuild of my pedal (half) Duo-Art Steck upright
has progressed to the expression box.  It is time to break it open.
I read John R. Grant's article in the December 1979 AMICA Bulletin
(or in AMICA Technicalities Volume 4) on how to use that box-opening
tool known to the uninitiated as a hammer.  I also practised yelling
HI-E-E-E-Y-A-A-A-HA! as he recommends, and I had a screw-topped jar
ready to store all the wood screws that are supposed to be removed
once the heavy bellows-cloth top cover comes off.

To my consternation I can't find any wood screws.  The pedal Duo-Art
box is doubtless smaller than a full Duo-Art box, and perhaps wood
screws were found not to be necessary.  If anyone can confirm that
I shouldn't expect any in my expression box I'd be grateful.

It is evident from the photos in Mr. Grant's article that there is
a lot more room in a full D-A box but I think I can see two places in
my box where an impulse-transferring rod can be placed, and I plan to
give it a go.  Again, if anyone has actually tried this technique I'd
be delighted to hear about it.
