has now been updated to work with Windows 8.X and Windows 10.
The updated program, "MIDI Player", can be downloaded from my

I would like to thank Phil Dayson for his recent post on how he was
using a Windows 8.1 tablet to connect the USB to MIDI and using the
Windows Media player to play MIDI files.  As a result, I realized that
I could modify the Free MIDI Player program which is written in Visual
Basic 6 to also use the Windows Media Player control rather than the
Multimedia control.
