This situation usually indicates that the motor cloth covering the
Play/Reroll pneumatic pair has stiffened and the pneumatics are pushing
the shifter to center itself, as both pneumatics are equally stiff and
pushing toward the other.

I suggest recovering the pneumatic and check all the other pneumatics
in the drawer for stiffness as well.  Stiff pneumatics indicate a
breakdown of the rubber in the cloth and often this begins the leaking
that it gives rise to.

Be sure to measure correctly to have the play reroll pneumatics wide
enough travel as if one is too tight it will not slip fully into gear
to operate correctly.
