Lots 702 to 730 : An exceptional collection of engravings about barrel organ players.

About 80 engravings, most of them from the XIXth century and of German origin, in excellent condition, many of them in colour, depicting barrel organ players and
their public.

These documents are not unique, but they are rare and difficult to find : they are extracts from the publications of that period, newspapers, revues, satirical journals,
etc. It took many years for the collector who sells them to-day to find them. Most of these engravings are protected by cardboard frames.

If not otherwise stated, every engraving depicts a barrel organ player. Dimensions are approximate and apply only to the engraving  itself, without margins. B&W =
black and White. Color = colored.

Moritat : Barrel organ players, especially German ones, used to sing or tell stories (often frightening) with the help of a stick pointing out on a large panel the various
episodes, as in a comic strip.
