Vocalstyle 12973 (88-note) with Ampico expression added.

The purpose of the list below is to identify song titles and performers and especially to give recognition to the editors who laboriously added the new expression codes to the music roll.  It may be considered a supplement to the rollographies that list virtually all of the reproducing rolls issued before WW2.

The list is limited to new songs or newly-coded songs published after World War Two (WW2) for expression pianos or reproducing pianos and newly published revisions of earlier performances.  Reissued (recut) performances, unchanged from earlier performances, are not included.   The song titles shown are as they were registered with the U.S. Copyright Office or else as they customarily appear in music folios; the roll label titles may differ slightly.

Special recognition is given Bill Flynt, of Dallas, Texas, who added the Ampico expression codes to the bulk of the songs listed from the early 1970s.

All the rolls in this list are protected by compilation copyright and, because they are revised with added expression codes, also by new performance copyright.  This notice appeared in the catalogs of rolls offered by AMR (Automatic Music Rolls): "Many of the songs were originally recorded at the QRS recording studio by Roger Williams, Eubie Blake, Liberace and others.  By special permission of Ramsi Tick,  President of QRS, AMR reissued these rolls using the original master recordings to apply the Ampico coding."

Primary producers of post-WW2 reproducing piano rolls and 3-letter abbreviations:

AMI - AMICA (Automated Musical Instrument Collectors' Association)
AFC - Artcraft Music Rolls (L. Douglas Henderson, Wiscasset, Maine)
AMR - Automatic Music Roll Co. (Frank Adams, Seattle, Washington)
GIV - Larry Givens (Wexford, Pennsylvania)
KEY - Keystone Music Rolls (Robert Groman, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)
KLA - Klavier Music Rolls (Harold Powell, Burbank, California)
MEL - Meliora Music Rolls (Tim Baxter, Atlanta, Georgia)
PLY - Play-Rite (Play-Rite Music Rolls, Inc., Turlock, California)
QRS - QRS (QRS Music Rolls, Buffalo, New York)
