I did some new research about the perforators at Keystone, and learned that, contrary to my previous statement (digest.95.07.01), for current production of Ampico rolls Keystone is using original sprocketed masters "wherever possible".
My original information was from a conversation several years ago with Keystone partner (at that time) Bob Taylor, of Philadelphia, who told me that the Ampico masters were far too fragile to use for production and therefore would be stored away until the day came that they could be copied. He explained that in addition to the sprocket holes, the master rolls have several additional control channels, and thus a special extra-wide perforator was needed to make a copy.
But obviously this plan of preserving the masters fell through. The thin and brittle Ampico masters, many which were already torn and crumbling when Harold Powell owned them, are still in use in use at Keystone, and I presume they have not yet been copied or preserved. I wring my hands at this discouraging thought.
