I've serviced only a few of these myself.  There are a few suppliers of rebuilt boards around.  The symptom you describe is not usually caused by someone shutting the power off mid-tape.  There is a tracking adjustment on the tape deck.  Adjust the roller knob till the light goes out and stays out.  When this adjustment is out of whack, the piano will exhibit the above mentioned symptoms.

I would also clean the head and capstan on the tape deck while you're there with a swab and alcohol.
