Welcome to Brett Mohr, who asked about a test vacuum source a few days ago. If your own lungs are not up to doing all the sucking necessary to test various parts and systems as you rebuild or regulate a player, the old tried-and true device is a vacuum cleaner with appropriate custom made hose fittings, a hole in the tubing somewhere as a spill for excess vacuum (so the motor won't over-heat), and/or a voltage controlled (dimmer switch) AC source. That and a water manometer, and the possible tests are only limited by your ingenuity, not your lung-power. If you need to listen for leaks, put the machine in the next room with a long hose. If you want a _really_ traditional vacuum source, rebuild the pump from an old pedal player and put it under the workbench. If you do, let me know how it works. I've never had time to do that...
