Correction Tape Needed for Roll Rewind Accident

Please advise: I have just rebuilt a Pratt-Read player. In testing various rolls, I did the expected - I shredded a roll for about 2 feet of its length. I am in the adjusting phase of the rebuild. It's an old roll and I love the piece. I know there is a certain type of Scotch tape that works best. What type is that?
