A few years ago I encountered a very late Schultz action in which they abandoned the double pneumatic system for a more conventional pouch & valve. The exterior of the stack is identical to the older one in the way the pneumatics, lifters and regulating buttons are placed, and how it mounts in the piano. When ever I get one of the older style stacks, I fabricate a whole new stack using the most of the old hardware. I keep very close track of my time on most of my projects and have found it is more cost effective and makes for less problems just to make a new stack that is more serviceable. I do the same with Gulbransen and sometimes Wurlitzer, H.C.Bay, old style Ampion, and other glued together actions. This also makes for an easier job for the second time around.
