Document Transfer
By John Grant

Hello Terry (and Listreaders),

Congratulations on your "work-around" in transferring the image files.
Mr. Land would have been proud of you (see signature file below)! But
DO take Jody's advice next time and compress the files before sending them.
I recently did something very similar when a different fellow in Australia
(Steven Harris) posted a message on the Harmonet wondering about efficient
ways to transfer sheet music over the 'net. Perhaps you read that post
as well. Since I have TONS of barbershop music in Music Printer Plus
format, this is what I did: MPP has an output option that writes a separate
.PCX format file for each page of an MPP song file. These (.PCX files)
are typically around 250K in size, BUT when you PKZIP them, they shrink
to around 50K in size, or 80% compression! This ratio probably varies
for different types of images so a typical page of text with an illustration
may not be as efficient, but it's certainly worth a try. -JRG
