Player Piano Co.
By Joyce Brite

Terry Smythe was asking whether the Player Piano Co. in Wichita, KS has a fax number.

I lived in Wichita for several years and visited the Player Piano Co. a number of times. I made a trip there this past November and stopped by PPC. I do not recall them having a fax machine unless it was tucked away in a corner.

Player Piano Co. is a very casual and low-tech business, and I doubt if they are on the 'Net. It is a place frozen in time. They still have 60's style shag carpeting on the floor, and a poster on the wall announcing the latest QRS rolls--of 1983. When you enter the roll stockroom, which could use a good sweeping and dusting, you have to negotiate around piano innards and other flotsam and jetsam. I haven't ventured into the parts storerooms, but it's a large, old building, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are player parts hidden in some forgotten areas.

I am planning to go to Wichita again sometime in May. If anyone would like me to get measurements or photos of parts they are thinking about ordering, please let me know.

BTW, Player Piano Co. has several dozen discontinued QRS rolls for sale. They are mainly rolls issued in the last ten years or so, and for the most part, were not big sellers. They don't advertise these so only walk-in customers like myself know about them. Perhaps some subscribers to this mailing list may find these rolls worth inquiring about.

Regards,

Joyce Brite
