Re: Deagan
By Matthew Caulfield

I have been fascinated by the mysterious (to me) Deagan company but have never had the opportunity Gloria Schack enjoyed to hear an account of the company by one of its employees. We always seem to get interested in our history when it is too late.

I once heard a Deagan uniphone in a Shriners' parade. It was a small but surprisingly loud reiterating instrument, because of the resonator tubes below the bars, operated electrically from a keyboard.

My copy of the official Wurlitzer style 165 band organ tracker scale dated 9-29-21 and redated 3-15-42 has hole 3 marked "uniphone bells" although no Wurlitzer organ is known equipped with such bells. That has made me wonder about a Wurlitzer-Deagan relationship.

So many mysteries, so few people who know the answers. Sigh.
