Glue again?  It seems that some like it clear and light and some like it
dark. I prefer the darker ones among the types I have tried. The Milligan
& Higgins stuff that Craig Brougher mentioned is amazingly strong,
possibly too strong for some uses.

I have an old book on woodworking that correlates the amount of water
absorbed by hot glue, in a given period of time, with quality.  It
suggests covering a uniform sample with a measured amount of cold water
and letting it sit overnight. Pour off and measure the unabsorbed water.
This is suggested as a way to compare glues. Has anyone else heard of this
method.  If anyone is interested I can search my memory and library for
the original source of this test.
