Help Replacing Ivory Keytops
By Rick Inzero

I have a few chipped ivories on my 1923 player. One in particular has
a good hunk taken out, and the piano tech gave me a loose good ivory he
had in his toolbox. How do I go about removing the old ivory piece
without ruining the wooden key base underneath? I suppose it would be
okay to (further) ruin this ivory piece during removal.

Since we're only talking about one key, I would like to do the repair
_on_ the piano, without disassembling the player to remove the key. Is
this okay, or would it be a better idea to indeed take the key out? I
know that if I were doing the whole piano, I could remove all the keys,
and have the ivories sawed off and replaced, but I only want to do this
one key (for now).

And once I get it off, what kind of glue should I use to put the new
one on? Thanks for any advice/experience you may share!
