Carousel Music in "The Sting"
By Gordon Forcier

Hi Y'all, just a little article on "The Sting." The organ used was a Wurlitzer 146A from Santa Monica Pier in Calif., which is not at that locale anymore since the organ is now owned by my father, Art, who bought it from Rick McDowell, who bought it from Galen Bird, who bought it from a man who acquired it from the pier. Lots of hands-changing here.

I have an LP of this organ and it was and is undeniably this organ. Although Takoma Records, the company that released the LP, labeled it as being built in 1890, which is highly unlikely, it's more like 1921. Anyhow, for those who are interested, the LP no. is A-1038 on the Takoma records label, and was recorded in 1973. If anyone would like a sample copy of it on tape, let me know via my web address above.
