Raffin Concert Organ in Erlangen
By Robbie Rhodes

MMD member Ingmar Krause sent us a photo image of the organ which his
family, "Erlanger Drehorgeltrio", operates in Erlangen, Germany. It's
a beautiful medium-size Drehorgel (hurdy-gurdy) made by the Raffin
company. It plays a music roll of only 20 keys, but it's full of
pipes. Ingmar admits it's "a bit big for 20 key, but that's why it is
called 'Konzert'".

The photograph shows the instrument when it had 67 pipes; since then it
has been expanded to 70. The specification is
•
  11 Bourdon *
  11 second Bourdon *
  11 Violine *
  11 Clarinette *
  11 Piccolo *
   6 Accompaniment
   3 Basses
   3 Bassoon-Basses *

   * = Registers (= registerable)
•
The photo image is about 70kbytes (706x667 pixels); Jody has placed
it in the foxtail archives at

Ingmar said that he hopes the photograph will make me "more enchanted
to arrange music for this scale :) "

( I feel enchantment flowing over me now...! ;-)
