Olde Tyme Musical Museum Recordings
By Mike Carey

I recently attended the music show in Orlando, FL. (phongraphs, et. al.)
While I was there, I found 2 more records of machines that were in the
"Olde Tyme Musical Museum" on Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando.

I know the museum is long gone; I was curious about whatever happened
to all of the machines that were in the museum.

The two records I found:

1. "5 American Musical Instruments" - recordings of a Mills, Wurlitzer
band organ, a Western Electric (sounds like their version of a KT
special), a Seeburg K & an E (xylophone and pipes respectively), and a
Wurlitzer LX. The front cover is a photo of the Mills (single violin) on
the bottom half, and a band organ on the upper left corner.

2. "The Magnificent Mortier 92-Key Orchestrion" - actually a band organ.
The front of the organ fills the entire cover of the record. It shows an
accordion in the center.

Both records were brand new, still in the plastic shrink-wrap! The
recordings are great, especially the Mortier.

(I also broke the dealer's arm giving him the money for the records --
these recordings are getting almost *impossible* to find!)

By the way: Is anyone interested in trading copies of recordings? I have
somewhere around 30-50 records (a LOT of 'Audio Fidelity's), plus I have
several records I recorded onto VHS HiFi video tape. (A friend of mine
had 8 records I borrowed, them recorded them onto HiFi video tape. One
record was of a Weber Maesto, another of a Maesto and a Wurlitzer Pian-
Orchestra. The records were great recordings of the machines.) I can dub
VHS HiFi, cassette, and reel-to-reel (I can here some of you snickering).

I'm not talking about making recordings to sell; I just love the music of
these machines, and am trying to find all the copies I can find.
