Thank you for quickly responding to my subscribe request. To answer your
questions, I built the PianoDisc Vorsetzer using their PDS128 model,
but I use it most of the time with my PDS 32 sequencer or Mac. I simply
use the play unit's MIDI in. I have even interfaced it with my Korg
keyboard that the choir director used up in the choir loft, while the
play unit was on the piano down on the floor. As you can imagine, the
congregation was a bit confused.
I used their original solenoids, but built a cap on them so that the
plungers would not fall out since I had to invert them. I also had to do
some reverse springing for the plungers would retract when the note
finished playing. I also took their large sustain pedal solenoid, put it
on an adjustable height box that also contains their heavy power supply.
There are cables between the box on the floor and the play unit sitting
on the keyboard. It isn't necessarily pretty, but very functional. I
understand that QRS now has a production unit and Yamaha has considered
building one. PianoDisc didn't think there was a potential market and
that it might take away from their permanent installations.
I heard about you group from a co-worker( we both work for Contra Costa
County),. We have exchanged some piano rolls. His name is Steve Harris.
I'm looking forward to being part of your group.
