Albert Petrak
By Rich Marschner

Bruce Clark asked yesterday for help locating missing collectors. Among
others he asked about, I was amazed to see this:

> Another collector who visited others, was Albert Petrak, last known
> to be living in Cleveland Heights. Vanished. Does anyone know of his
> whereabouts?

Indeed, I do -- and vanished he is not. Albert -- or "Old A. P.", as
he's fondly known to all classical-music-loving Clevelanders -- is alive
and well and on the air several shifts each week on WCLV/95.5, where he
has been for something like 20 of our 35 years, broadcasting the classics
to Northeast Ohio.

A. P. isn't an active collector these days, and I don't think he
currently owns a piano -- but I could be wrong on that; I'll ask him.
You can reach him here at the station: 26501 Renaissance Pkwy, Cleveland
OH 44128. Or e-mail him at: <apetrak@wclv.com>

I'm actually the WCLV staff resident reproducing piano guy. I've had my
1923 Chickering "Centennial Grand" -- a 5'-8" Louis XV mahogany number --
since 1971 or so. I'm not proud of it's performance right now; it moved
from Chicago to Cleveland Heights to Chagrin Falls about three years
back, and hasn't been quite the same since.

Actually, being your basic music box type, I haven't even connected with
any piano techs around here yet, except one tuner. Does anyone have a
solid personal recommendation of someone in the Cleveland area who could
help get the reproducer -- a standard "A" Ampico -- back in shape?

Thanks as always to Robbie, et. al, for continuing to provide us all with
this resource.
