Hope this helps.  By the way, I noticed an error of fact in your
editor's note of March 30 in which you said:

The big concert grand Duo-Art used in the "Earwitness" radio program
series is *not* playing specially edited rolls!  All rolls used in the
series (with the exception of one or two original master rolls) were
original over-the-counter Duo-Art music rolls.  *No* recuts were used.

Although I was not personally involved with the recordings, I was con-
sulted and apprised about many of the details relating to this exciting,
groundbreaking project.  For once, nothing was spared in making these
recordings as authentic and accurate as possible.  Musically speaking
(and as a graduate of the Chicago Conservatory College majoring in piano)
I can assure you that in the case of the Duo-Art, size for once is not a
factor nor is it even important.

"Specialty" rolls (used for public appearances and concerto work) have
no bearing on music rolls available from the Duo-Art library which were
designed to be used on *all* Duo-Art instruments.  To the best of my
knowledge, the Moller "Artiste" player pipe organ was the only instrument
that required rolls custom-perforated for an individual instrument.
There may be others, but certainly not in the reproducing piano field.

 [ (i.e., when using extraordinary vacuum).

 [ Since the rolls were not modified, can I assume that the big piano
 [ was not modified either, but rather it was carefully voiced and 
 [ regulated for best performance at ordinary volume in a small room
 [ (just as the system was designed)?
