Player Piano History
By Damon Atchison

I am writing a paper on early mechanical music from 1890-1930. It will
focus on pneumatically operated systems. I have a few questions that I'd
like to ask of you all.

1. Why were the first player piano systems only 65-note?

2. How expensive were player pianos to the average consumer of the era
from circa 1911-1929?

3. What (88-note) player brand was considered to be the best in terms of
it's system and/or piano?

Any info would be very helpful as these topics I am a little fuzzy on.

Thanks, Damon Atchison
