Silicone Elastomer Caulk
By Jack Hardman

There are several types of cure mechanisms used in Silicone elastomer
formulations. Some incorporate acetic acid and are indeed activated
by exposure to atmospheric moisture. These should probably be avoided
because of the possibility of residual acid after cure. These
formulations are easily identified because they smell like vinegar
(acetic acid). I would recommend contacting Dow or GE to learn more.
Sorry I can't be of more direct help.
