Vince's Wurlitzer Player Piano
By Andy Taylor

Vince, several actions were used by wurlitzer. you made the comment "every four
notes"my guess would be that it has "four in one valve castings in this case
it would be a late model. If this is the case be careful who you let
rebuild it

It is rare that a unrestored player will play at all. What is happening is
the top valves seats or valves are leaking when the notes play. That, coupled
with leaky pneumatics, accounts for your problem. So tear it down & rebuild
it or have someone do it. Thats the only way it will ever play as it should.

All player pianos are worth restoring in my view as long as the piano is in
good shape. Have a piano man check over the piano, but ignore any comments
he makes about the player action (he will probably want to remove it for
good). Just tell him/her you want the PIANO checked out. Do what it takes to
put the piano in first class shape........
Then find someone to restore the player action. If the piano has to go to the
shop remove the entire player action & keep it at home where you can keep a eye
on it.
                              best regards Andy Taylor
