The Local Museum
By Meta Brown

Some people who I met from the local AMICA group mentioned demonstrating
a player piano for a group of school children who had never seen one
before, not even in a movie. The kids were amazed and fascinated. And
they learned, too! (If the folks who told me this story are reading
this, would you please tell us more about it?)

Player pianos, especially many of those pumpers that are begging for a
home, have so much appeal for kids. So many pianos are sitting around
unused or little used, imagine how nice it would be to see more of them
in public places where groups of kids could see, hear and pump them
(with a little help from a knowledgeable adult) each day.

I would like to hear from others who have loaned instruments to museums
or done public demonstrations. What options do we have for getting old
instruments into public view?
