Seek: "The Pussy Cat Rag"
By Jim Canavan

I was wondering if any of you rollography specialists can tell me whether
one of my favorite pre-WW I songs, "The Pussy Cat Rag" was ever made
into a piano roll.

I've got three recordings of the song (not a "rag" at all!): one on
Victor, one on black etched label Diamond Disk, and (the best) one on
Blue Amberol cylinder. All are sung by Billy Murray and the Peerless
Quartette, accompanied by Ada Jones. It's listed on the Victor label
as being by "Allen-Daly-Allen."

The song begins:

"I've got an old maid sister, who's crazy over cats,
She wears her hair all pasted down, 'cause she's afraid of rats!"

I'd love to know whether this song ever made it to piano roll...of
course, if anyone has an extra copy they'd like to sell..... <G>
