Phoneon Player Organ
By Brian Chesters

For those who are members of the Musical Box Society of Great Britain,
they will have seen in the last issue of the Music Box magazine an
article by Kevin McElhone in England about the Phoneon. This is a player
organ made only in the UK by Malcolm & Co. and played 61 note rolls,
about the size of an large American organ but smaller than the Aeolian
Orchestrelle.

I mention this because the Music box Autumn/Fall issue only arrived last
week and to-day I was groveling round a large antique warehouse in the
city of Lancaster in the North of the UK and there was a nice Phoneon.
I say 'nice' because, I have had two of these in the last four years and
the others were tatty.

The case is mahogany and in very clean condition. There were no rolls
with it but as I have 50 or more that is not a problem. The instrument
will be delivered on Friday afternoon so I need to find some room for it.
