Back from Phonograph Show in NJ
By Nancy Fratti

Hi Everyone! I'm back from the Bilton Phonograph (and mechanical music)
Show in Bound Brook NJ. By the way, he says he's looking for a new place
(East Coast) to move it for April. Bummer, but it's his choice. The
show was a little slower than usual, but I still sold well -- machines
sold, but books and audio recordings and supplies didn't.

I've been following the thread on the Regina that was out of tune and
read with delight all the replies! I can't add any information to Dan
Wilson's & Bea Robertson's replies; they both covered all the major
possibilities! It was refreshing to read a music box thread! (I better
be careful -- someone may figure out how to put a MIDI on a music box!
What a thread that would be!)

Regarding "Demand and Supply of MM Instruments": I didn't read all the
responses yet, but discussion seems to focus on supply/demand and PRICE.
What about preservation? If we don't foster interest in the instruments
*now*, who will preserve them in the future?

Sure, the more people who want instruments, the more the demand, the
higher the price. That's the way of things. I've never heard a
collector complain that his/her pieces were going up in value! You can
bet you'd hear comments if they went DOWN in value because nobody was
interested in them!!!

*** New item for MMD -- Phonographs! ***

Speaking of 'things', I came home with (hold on!) a few phonographs for
sale. I've a Victor R, a Zonophone, an empty Zonophone case and a
Columbia horn and tone arm for sale. I think the Columbia horn/tone arm
might fit a Reginaphone, but I'm not sure. Have to get it out of the
truck and check it out.

I also appraised two collections while 'on the road home', and I will
have one or two interchangeable cylinder boxes, possibly a 20" Regina and
a few other goodies for sale in the near future. Will let you know!

Enjoy!
