My Yamaha Disklavier
By Larry Kellogg

I'm sorry I missed submitting my information for the solenoid piano
survey. I'll provide a short summary here. I've had a Yamaha MX100II
for almost two years. I love the piano and listen to it every day. I
have noticed some pedal noise but calibration has made it better. Other
than that, I haven't found any problems with the piano. I would
definitely buy another one; maybe a grand one of these days.

I get music from the Internet, Stahnke, PG Music (good collection,
reasonable price). I listen mainly to classical stuff. I never seem to
tire of listening to music on my piano. Sorry, I'm not interested in
pumping my music. I like being able to listen to Chopin while I do work
around the house. You can hear the piano from any room!

The new XG Disklavier series of pianos support Yamaha ESEQ format and
both kinds of MIDI files: Type 0 and 1. The older Mark II pianos only
supported MIDI Type 0 files. Not a big deal, and there is a $50 program
that will convert between any of the formats (www.giebler.com). The new
XG pianos come with a 700 voice synthesizer, but I have resisted the urge
to combine digital sound with real piano sound. Maybe I'll upgrade in
the future.

Larry Kellogg
