Friends,  I am still working on the Ariston crank organ (cardboard
disc, 24 note) that several of you supplied info on last summer, and
have been able to gain some details.

On the top, under a layer of non-professional looking green paint,
which was physically (and tediously) removed by sanding/scraping off
the top layer, I find the following script:

    The
    Hermann
    London
    126. 127. 128.
    London-Wall.
    GERMAN MANUFACTURE

The last line is a different color (ink?) and type and appears to be
stamped over the top, as it actually covers the edge of the design.
But now that I've uncovered it, I don't know what it signifies!  Is
anyone familiar with these names? I had expected a reference to
"Ariston" somewhere!  What do the numbers mean?

Was the "GERMAN MANUFACTURE" added at a later time, or original?  And
does that explain why it was painted over, perhaps during anti-German
sentiment during WW2?  The paint appears to have been applied at the
time of the last "restoration", but I don't know the date.
