Welte Orchestrion in Welsh Castle
By Mike Knudsen

Bowers' Encyclopedia of Automatic Musical Instruments does show a Welte
publicity photo of their installation at the Welsh castle of Adelina
Patti, as mentioned.

They don't mention it as second-hand or cut down, or that Welte is
getting two publicity shots out of one sale, but that's show biz. In
fact, the orchestrion in the photo looks like one of their largest.

Unless Dame Patti had two of 'em: for the kitchen (oops, original Welte
owners rarely visited their kitchens), or maybe in the loo?

By the way, I read of a large outdoor Welte at some summer camp that
caught fire from its interior lighting circuits and burned down -- sad.
That may have been this one.
