Glue For Silk Cloth
By Bing Gibbs

Has any rebuilder come up with the appropriate glue to use for
recovering pneumatics using the new silk cloth from the Australian
company? I have found that PVC-E gives a better bond than hot glue but
neither is quite satisfactory after the test that I have done. Both
can be pulled off the wood with not too much effort.

Aleene's Tacky Glue works super; however, when one pulls this cloth off
wood it takes a layer of wood with it. Is there some kind of chemical
that needs to be removed off the cloth first, such as a mold agent,
etc.? What glue did they use on the silk cloth in the '20's?

Has there been any test done on the silk cloth to determine if and how
much it outlast the cotton cloth?
