Nimbus 'Grand Piano' Duo-Art CD
By Jeffrey Borinsky

In MMD 971217 Julian Dyer mentions the Nimbus Duo-Art recordings.
I listened to part of one CD in company with Julian and Terry Smythe.
I forget which disc but maybe that's just as well because it was
horrible.

Maybe my view of pianism is coloured by modern recordings and
performances. The performance sounded wooden and amateurish. The
recorded piano sound was nothing to get excited about either. This
sort of thing does no good at all to the public image of reproducing
pianos.

Perhaps I ought to borrow a copy for a more careful session before
making such damning comments, but that is how I felt at the time.

[ There's nothing bad about expressing your feelings. I do hope that
[ you and Julian will report on any improvement of the later edition.
[ See if the tempi are improved, too. -- Robbie
