Introduction & Player Piano Education
By Jo Ann Schulte

Hello, my name is Jo Ann Schulte and I've been surfing the net for
information about the Player Piano.

I would like to purchase one in the future but I didn't realize how
much information or the variety of players out there! I've been
reading the MMD digest and now I feel like I'm overwhelmed. Since I'm
not one to give up, I'm going to start again by going to the library.

Can you suggest any reading materials? I want to learn to play the
piano and want to use the player. I plan to purchase rolls for it in
the future. I'm open to suggestions and/or hints, and would appreciate
the help. I never thought something like a player piano could be so
complicated. I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions on where to
start.

I also wanted to send a special thank you to Robbie and Cyndy Hennig.
I appreciate the article on the NCA. I love carousels and have been
looking for more information so your timing couldn't have been better.
Again, thank you both very much.

[ Welcome to MMD, Jo Ann. In its heyday lots of tutoring rolls were
[ produced for the player piano, for just your need, and they still
[ show up in collections and for sale. I hope our MMDers can tell
[ you about the rolls and whatever related books there might be.
[ And you're absolutely right -- there is lots you can learn from
[ studying the rolls created by master performers and arrangers!
 [ Best wishes. -- Robbie
