Belly Cloth Bottom Cover for Player Grands
By John A. Tuttle

Hi Dick, For about fifteen years I have been utilizing the services
of a small company that does all types of vinyl and other material
coverings on cars, boats and assorted other items.

If you don't have the original covering, you can make a template with
large butchers paper (taped together if necessary) marking all the
snaps. I always tack the paper in place so I'm sure the piece is
snugly fit.

As for choices of material, I choose a rather thick brown vinyl and
then go one step further and have a 1/4" layer of foam rubber affixed
to the vinyl (on the inside).

Make sure to mark out the hole for the power cord and have extra
stitching and material applied around the hole for extra strength.
Also, to increase the strength of the snaps, have small patches of the
vinyl placed in between the snap and the in-side side of the material.

The snaps are fairly universal but it's best to remove one of the
'male' snaps on the rim of the piano and take it to the maker just
to be sure.

Musically,
John A. Tuttle (johntuttle@playercare.com)
