Two Statues by Gavioli Stolen
By Hans van Oost

On November14th of 1997 two valuable statues by Gavioli were stolen from
the Dutch street organ "de Pod", while it was standing in Rotterdam. They
are of great cultural and emotional value to the owner, Mr. Leon van Leeuwen,
grandson of Mr. Gijs Perlee.

Because these statues are too well-known in Holland, we fear that the thieves
will try to sell them somewhere abroad. We therefore ask all lovers of
mechanical music to be alert when they are offered organ statues for sale. They
might be stolen property.
Pictures of the statues can be seen on the homepage of the KDV:

    http://www.caiw.nl/~havo/index.htm.

Please E-mail me when you know anything about those statues, and thanks on
beforehand.
