Duo-Art vs. Disklavier
By Larry Broadmoore

According to Douglas Henderson, talk-show host Tom Snyder recently said
on his television program that he had both the Yamaha Disklavier and
the Steinway Duo-Art at home, and that the Duo-Art sounded better: "I'm
not knocking the Disklavier, but the Steinway Duo-Art sounds better to
me."

I was honored to hear this, having personally restored that instrument.
Tom asked that it be made as close as possible to its condition when
new. We did our best, and helped the engineers of the Aeolian Company,
with their "primitive" technology, to achieve still another posthumous
triumph over the mighty, multi-billion-dollar Yamaha Corporation.
