I've been biting my tongue throughout the movers discussion.  However,
having just moved 865 miles with *terrible* results, I can tell you that
a major mover, which specifically advertises in the Yellow Pages as
"Specialists in Piano Moving", is not one to use.

While I name the mover it's clear that this mover knew nothing about
piano moving.  Just in time I caught the mover ready to cinch down a
huge strap on the stack of the grand piano.  When I insisted they move
it or risk a $2000 repair job, they got nasty.  They moved the strap
and put it over the rewind pneumatic.  I pointed this out and saved
another repair job.  Another piano was left in the yard for 3 hours and
got rained on while the driver argued with the local office.  (I had to
find a tarp, no damage was done).

The move was costly, with many broken items.  Worse, the goods were
bounced an extra 1600 miles so the driver could get to his wife's
birthday party with his crew (saved air fare for 3 or 4 persons).  In
spite of it being one of the oldest and well-known names in the U.S.,
the mover is a rank amateur.  A neighbor said the crew acted like a
bunch of drunks having a party.  I could write a book, and may do that!
