The Powells worked out of two different locations in North Hollywood,
basically across the street from each other.  The first location, if
I remember correctly, was damaged by the 1971 San Sylmar earthquake,
creating the need to move to new quarters.

As for the roll, the 100000 series were recut composite rolls.  They
took three- and four-roll sets and recut them as one large roll.  You
had to have an Ampico grand with a B drawer or an Ampico upright with
a large roll box.

I tried their recut of the three roll set of the Nutcracker Suite.  It
did not work on my Franklin Ampico Upright.  It fit in my roll box all
right, but before it got to the end of the roll it slowed and then
stopped my air motor.  A model B electric motor probably had no problem
with this.

The rolls were cut on dry wax paper which has a tendency to slip on the
the take-up spool, causing the music to stop while the take up spool
takes up the slack.  This problem was made much worse by the size and
weight of these rolls.

When I returned the roll they exchanged it for the three separate boxed
rolls of the Nutcracker, which I still enjoy today.  I have a fair
number of the recuts.
