New "Story & Clark" Player-Piano Web Page
By Douglas Henderson

Hello,

MMD subscribers might wish to check out our new addition to the
ARTCRAFT Music Rolls Website, which features a picture and history of
the 1929 Story & Clark 'REPROTONE' player ... used for our on-the-road
Pianola performances.

The 'REPROTONE' - while being similar to any ordinary small upright of
the period - has a number of unique features, most of which lie in the
design of the Story & Clark pneumatic stack. The player's valves appear
to be inspired by those brass "screw-down" Themodist (solo system) valve
designs used by Aeolian for their Pianolas and Duo-Art players.

The URL provides additional information about the versatile Story &
Clark instrument. In fact, some technicians have written to me already
... saying that they've never seen or heard of a 'REPROTONE' before.
That's probably true, since only 3 have been discovered in recent years
... and by only ONE piano technician so far.

Curious? Want to know "WHO" located 100% of the known 'REPROTONE'
players to date? Just visit our new URL and found out:

Maybe you will discover the 4th 'REPROTONE' ... and 'luck out'! The
tone quality (which belies its modest size) and the many unusual
features might be just what you're looking for in a 'performance
instrument'. There are probably still a few 'REPROTONE' pianos out
there, somewhere ---

        Regards from Maine,

                (signed) Douglas Henderson
