Classical Music Parodies on Piano Rolls
By Bob Loesch

Hi, List. In collecting rolls, I've found a short list of classical
and light classical numbers which were parodied as popular songs,
usually rags. I've listed those I have found, and am interested in
finding out if anyone else has any additions. I've all but two on
rolls, 'That Loving Melody...' and the Confrey 'Traumerei'. I realize
that there are many others, but here's what I have found:

Humoresque - Dvorak Humoresque Rag - Gall
Spring Song - Mendelssohn That Mesmerisin' Mendelssohn Tune - Berlin
Gypsy Love Song - Herbert Gypsy Blues - Eubie Blake
Merry Widow Waltz - Lehar Merry Widow Rag - Eubie Blake
Melody in F - Rubenstein That Loving Melody Rubenstein Wrote
Traumerei - Schumann Traumerei Parody - Zez Confrey

Regards,

Bob Loesch
