Brinsmead Angelus Player
By Roger Waring

Hi everyone. I have had a call from an hotel in the English Lake
District, where I am told there sits an ancient upright Brinsmead with
an Angelus action. That is all the hotel owner can tell me, except
that the instrument has been there for a long time and it is old. It
has not been used for some years apparently.

I am attending the Keswick International Jazz Festival next weekend and
so plan to call in at Grasmere on my way there to inspect the player
and quote on repairs etc.

My questions to the group are:

1. Is the instrument likely to be "valuable"? I.e., are Brinsmeads
sought after?

2. Is there anything special that I should watch out for, or indeed be
careful of, when examining the Angelus action?

Many thanks to all.
