Introduction
By Drew Taylor

My lovely wife and I are new subscribers to MMD and new proud
parents to a 1912 Steinway Metrostyle with what appear to be originally
installed Aeolian Pianola player parts. It is in a condition that I as
a novice would consider grave: it is unstrung, the action is removed
and the player components do not appear complete.

A majority of the small air lines have been severed and it is missing
whatever holds the rolls and upper mechanicals. But, on a positive
note, the soundboard is intact, and as a professional woodworker the
casework is something that I am very capable of refurbishing.

Neither Valarie nor I have ever played but were drawn to this "Beauty".
We are now addicted, we have also bought a Starr upright and I am going
to look at another Steinway player tomorrow. Any information or
suggestions for research resources would be greatly appreciated. We
also thank you in advance for your patience concerning our initial lack
of knowledge and ineptness.
