Imhof & Mukle Interior Finish

What is the correct finish for interior components of 1920's vintage
Imhof & Mukle Orchestrions, i.e. pumps, reservoirs, pneumatics,
structural parts?

Was it white shellac, orange shellac, black paint?  Thanks in advance
for any help.
