Centrifugal Fan Characteristics
By John Wale

Hi Everyone, After taking my 25-note MIDI-driven pipe organ out on
a public performance at the weekend, I am wondering if I can in future
use a smaller blower than the one I am currently using. Presently
I am using a church organ blower which works great but is considerably
oversized for the organ and very heavy !

The trouble with smaller fans is obtaining enough pressure. My organ
is voiced for 6 inch wind, which is what I get from the large organ
blower. Does anyone know if there is a (fairly) simple way to deter-
mine wind pressure knowing the fan diameter and rotational speed ?
I am considering using a two-stage centrifugal fan driven by an
induction motor at 2,850 rpm.

Any comments appreciated. Thanks.
